In a new study done by Cedars Sinai Medical Center in California, researchers found that Alzheimer’s may be detected early on people through their eyes. Using a high-definition eye scan, scientists can find toxins that would build up in the eye which were symptomatic to Alzheimer’s disease. Professor Maya Koronyo-Hamaoui, lead author of the study said: “The findings suggest that the retina may serve as a reliable source for Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis.” Such advances mean detection will no longer require costly and uncomfortable procedures.
