Tsunami in Indonesia death toll reaches 1,200

A 7.5-magnitude earthquake triggered a tsunami that has devastated Indonesia and has taken at least 1,200 lives with it. The area with the highest mortality is the city of Palu, but effects of the destruction have been felt all over the country. In the last efforts for survival, businesses have been looted. Some of the survivors have barricaded trucks carrying aid supplies to take their contents and passing them down amongst other survivors.

President Widodo visited Palu on Sunday to speak words of encouragement for the people of his country and provide explanation on why there have been so many problems getting help to the crowds. A mass burial site is being planned for the entombment of the bodies.
